Shipping policyThe FLUENTPOWER FSP9003DW-1 is a 3/4 HP submersible sump pump for automatic basement sump drainage. Its vertical float switch turns the pump on as water rises and off as the water level falls.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL
Automatic float control
The external vertical float starts and stops the pump as water level changes.

Float up. Pump starts.
↓ WATER FALLS
Float down. Pump stops.
Illustrative water levels. Keep the float clear of walls, pipes and cables. Switching levels depend on installation and adjustment; follow the supplied manual.
How the piggy-back connection controls the pump
The motor plug connects to the float plug. The float plug connects to the grounded GFCI supply. This keeps automatic switching in the float circuit. Direct motor-plug bypass is manual only and will not stop automatically as water falls.
FLOAT MOUNTING
Two mounting positions.
Keep the float free.
Use the original bracket on the pump or secure it to the discharge pipe, as shown in this model’s manual.
Pump-mounted.
Original bracket fixed to the pump.
Pipe-mounted.
Bracket secured to the discharge pipe.
Photo-based installation illustrations. Keep the entire float travel clear of the pump, pipe and basin. Manual basin reference: minimum 14 in diameter. Switching levels depend on mounting and adjustment.
DISCHARGE CONNECTIONS
Discharge connections
The pump has a 1-1/2 in female NPT outlet. Build the connection for your hose or pipe using the matching fitting combination.

AUTOMATIC CIRCUIT
Motor plug → float plug → GFCI.
Seat the motor plug in the piggy-back float plug. Keep the grounded supply and both plugs dry.
Connection and safe-use notes
Disconnect power before assembly. GHT and NPT are different thread types. Use the matching seal for each connection and follow the supplied manual. Small hoses restrict flow. Site pipe and the check valve kit shown in the automatic-control scene are not included.
Stand the pump upright on a firm base and keep the intake and float clear. Never lift by either power cord. Disconnect before handling or clearing the pump. Automatic control does not provide battery backup.

¹ Maximum-flow conditions. Maximum flow is specified at 0 ft head (free discharge). Use a 1-1/2 in or larger discharge pipe; smaller pipes, lift and restrictions reduce actual flow. Maximum flow and maximum head are separate limits.
Check your sump fit
- 14 in minimum basin diameter reference
- The manual illustrates a 14 in minimum diameter. Check the space needed by the complete installed pump, pipe and float.
- Full float travel
- Leave the float free to move through its entire travel without touching the basin walls, discharge pipe or cables.
- 1½ in female NPT outlet
- Match the discharge pipe or adapter threads and use the appropriate seal. Check the complete connection before installation.
Sump fit & installation FAQs
Will it fit my sump basin?
The supplied manual illustrates a minimum 14 in basin diameter. Check the complete installed pump, pipe and float envelope, not just the body width. The float must move freely through its entire travel without touching the basin, pipe or cables.
How does automatic operation work?
The pump plug connects into the piggy-back float plug, which then connects to a dry, grounded GFCI supply. Rising and falling water move the external vertical float to switch the pump on and off. This is water-level control, not pressure sensing.
Are the switching levels fixed for every installation?
No. The pump-mounted reference in the supplied manual starts at approximately 7.9 in and has an adjustable shutoff point around 3.2–5.5 in. The installation and adjustment matter; do not transfer these values to every pipe-mounted setup.
Why is my flow lower than 3,500 GPH?
Maximum flow and maximum head are separate limits. Vertical lift, pipe size, line length, bends and the check valve change the operating point. Use the five supplied-manual flow points as reference, not a guarantee for your installation.
Are the scene pipe and check valve included?
No. The basin, discharge pipe, scene check valve and power receptacle are installation context. Match the supplied fittings to your own discharge arrangement and follow the exact model instructions.
Can I bypass the float for manual operation?
The supplied manual permits a direct motor-plug bypass for supervised manual operation. It will not stop automatically as water falls. Stay with the pump, disconnect power before dry running and follow the manual.
Will it keep pumping during a power outage?
No. This is a mains-powered sump pump, not a battery-backup system. If outage protection is needed, plan a separately compatible backup arrangement. Automatic operation is not a guarantee against flooding.
